HT-EP - The Effects of Change

The Effects of Change

Change. Change affects everyone, some try to ignore it, while others just go with the flow.  This is why my piece "The Effects of Change" represents to me the constant change in the style of music Linkin Park have produced since their Hybrid Theory EP. Not once have they gone back and made the same album twice just to please fans, no two of these images are the same, the constant change is what keeps them fresh and exciting.

The repetition of the image with different designs is partially inspired by Andy Warhol.

Digitised Image - HT-EP

Digitised Image Vodcast Script

This is my object for digitised image. As you can see it is my signed Hybrid Theory EP by Linkin Park when they were still known as Hybrid Theory. I managed to get my hands on a copy in 2010 during the LP summit in Sydney. Although it is not an original seeing as only 1000 copies were made in 1999, I was quiet happy with a re-issued version. The significance to me is that it was during that time I also got to meet all the members of Linkin Park and had my EP signed by them as well.
Linkin Park were the first band I ever bought a CD of and it is because of them I have a very varied taste for music today. I believe this EP was the catalyst for Linkin Park as it propelled them forward and made me a true fan. I know that these days others will say that Linkin Park have gone all soft and shit, but to me change is a good thing and I will support their music no matter what. At least it is not all commercial rubbish like One Direction, I will never understand why so many people are drawn into commercial crap.

This EP will only ever live in the CD collection as a memory of that day and never get played in an actual CD player. It is the signatures on the EP that serve as a reminder that not only was that the first time I met my favourite band but it would not be the last. In the end I will always appreciate the things I’ve always longed for and this will not be the last.

One last thing, I don’t associate a metaphor with this object, I just love good music

I know Linkin Park may be considered commercial, but they aren't absolute rubbish.

Interesting post on commercial radio.

Here is the video from the Sydney LPU Summit where I got the CD.

This was the best experience I've had so far and I can't wait for the next.
